[movies]The Frances Langford Don Ameche show (Nov. 2, 1951)
Example of ABC's ill-fated attempt in daytime programming. "The Frances Langford Don Ameche show" was on the air from noon to 1pm each weekday. The show lasted just six month from September 1951 till March 1952. ABC is said to have lost $20,000 each week on the show, at a time when the network was already fighting for its survival. This is a program from Nov. 2, 1951 with special guest star Chester Morris...

[movies]Amahl and the Night Visitors (Dec. 24, 1951)
Christmas Eve will be marked appropriately on television with all regular programs making some provision, and a number of special programs also planned. Among the special ones are two on WNBW. The first of these (9:30 p. m.) is Gian Carlo Menotti's opera, "Amahl and the Night Visitors," an hour-long production written especially for this television performance. This is the story of a lame boy who meets the Three Wise Men on their way to Bethlehem...

[movies]Classic TV Comedy: ''Burns and Allen'' - (Episode Title: Teenage Girl Spends the Weekend)
An episode of the early television comedy "The George Burns and Gracie Allen Show". This episode is presumably from 26 April 1951, judging by the cast. Sweet, light, and with some moderate historical value (such as the brief reference to "jump records"). Complete with original commercials for Carnation Evaporated. Episode title is unclear, as the episode has been called both "Teenage Girl Spends the Weekend" and "Visiting Teenager"...

[movies]Your Hit Parade - 15th September, 1951
An episode of "Your Hit Parade", a music-variety series featuring hit songs sung by the cast members. Not one of the better episodes, I'm sorry to say. Songs include: "Shanghai", "The Loveliest Night of the Year", "Sweet Violets", "I Get Ideas", "Come On-a My House", "Too Young", and "Because of You". In very poor shape, missing the cigarette commercials and with the wrong opening and closing, plus some sound and picture issues.

[movies]'The Adventures of Ellery Queen' - Murder to Music (1951)

To avoid undue distraction, I've cut off the badly distorted upper part of the frame.

[movies]The George Burns and Gracie Allen Show - Gracie Gives a Wedding
From 13 September 1951. Episode of the popular sitcom "Burns & Allen", aired live on CBS. This had been uploaded before, but this copy is more complete. In this classic episode, Gracie lets two complete strangers get married in their house, after the bride's mother did a favor for Gracie.

[movies]The Trouble with Father - Springtime for Father (1951)
Another episode of that popular 1950s sitcom "The Trouble with Father" with Stu and June Erwin. In this episode, Stu wants to go hunting with his friend, but their families want to go to glamorous New York City. The ending is gloriously predictable. I hope the picture quality isn't the worst thing ever to happen to the Internet.

[movies]Excerpts from 1951 Television - Matthew Paul Argall
I don't know if this video is legal or not, but here's a collection of excerpts from public domain United States television programming from 1951. I give a (lousy) introduction at the start. Some of these clips are very pleasant and charmingly dated, while others make it clear that there is a reason times have changed. Represented are clips of shows from CBS, ABC, NBC, DuMont, and first-run syndication...

[movies]The Colgate Comedy Hour - 1 April 1951
An episode of the popular NBC series "The Colgate Comedy Hour", featuring the famous Eddie Cantor. The episode promises "new talent", some of which you've heard of (such as Eddie Fisher and William Warfield), and some of which you haven't (such as Tony and Eddy). In any case, a diverse range of talent appears, both high-brow and low-brow. The picture quality is very poor, though. According to an article in Variety magazine from 14 November 1951, the series cost $40,000 per an episode to produce ...
